The Hoxton Shepherd's Bush Presents:
Kindred Studios x Hox Gallery
Helga’s World
An ode to local independent makers and emerging artists living in our neighbourhood: Helga Stentzel’s solo exhibition is the latest in our series of cherry-picked works brought to you by our friends at Kindred Studios, a thriving collective of West London artists and creatives in a studio complex located almost directly behind The Hoxton in the heart of Shepherd’s Bush.
Kindred Studios aims to inspire its artists, enable collective development and support as well as mentor students and creatives just starting out in the arts. Regularly exhibiting with us here, they offer Hoxton guests and visitors personal tours of this show and of the nearby Studios - just reach out to the the Curator for deets.
Hox Gallery welcomes you to ‘Helga’s World’, presenting a selection of works by visual artist Helga Stentzel whose unique vision invites us to explore and heighten our experiences of the everyday in a new light of magical realism combined with a touch of surrealism whilst staying grounded in the realms of reality.
With her keen eye, everyday objects and vistas which we usually overlook are elevated from ordinary to extraordinary, bringing us much joy and playfully provoking thought.
Having a background in fashion and a career in advertising, her creative practise
incorporates an ever-growing range of media including photography, sculpture, mural
design and soft textiles so as to achieve this. Her highly individual approach to
photography has consistently garnered recognition, most notably resulting in the
prestigious title of Hasselblad Heroine in 2023 and the NordArt People's Choice Prize in 2024.
